Sunday, February 7th, 2010

Much of the time termite problems are caused by your own decisions. There are a few mistakes that are done that actually invite termites to your property and home which results in damage to it. If you avoid doing some of these things, it will also help you avoid termites.

One mistake that is made is removing the stump or the tree where there is a termite problem. The logic for most people is that if you remove this food source for the termites that the problem will go away. What happens when you do this is that the termites will move to another location which is most likely your house. You need to first kill the termites before removing any trees from your yard.

A common mistake is stacking wood next to the home. In wintry months it\’s nice to have wood easy accessible outside the back or side door. This wood against the house is an easy food source for termites. As they feast on the wood pile, then will eventually move to your home.

Don\’t let any wood structures like your deck or stairs leading up to the house touch the ground. Your home is on a foundation so it avoids this problem. Many times people put the wooden deck, sheds, or stairs on the ground making it an easy target for termites. Once they get into your deck they will ruin it and have easy access to damaging your home. Using a sand barrier or even concrete will help protect your wooden structures.

If you suspect a termite problem, get it taken care of immediately. The best option is to go find a credible termite company to do an inspection. You will know for sure if you have termites. Another option is to use termite stakes. These can be placed around the home providing a barrier for the home. When termites come in contact with the stakes, they will pop up letting you know that you have termites in your yard.

If you want extra termite protection consider using terminate termite stake . For mice problems use the Victor Electronic Mouse Trap.
